It's been a great season on the ground for Iowa graduate quarterback Mark Gronowski.
Gronowski already owned the most rushing touchdowns by a Hawkeye quarterback in a single season entering Friday. The 6-foot-2, 235-pound quarterback extended his grasp of that crown, rushing for two more touchdowns against the Huskers to move his season total to 15 rushing scores.
But, Gronowski etched his name into another piece of the Iowa record books during the win over the Huskers.

With his 64 rushing yards, Gronowski now has 491 rushing yards on the season, giving Gronowski the most rushing yards by a Hawkeye quarterback in a single season in program history. Gronowski overtook Ed Podolak (450 rushing yards, 1966), Wilburn Hollis (477 yards, 1960) and Ken Ploen (487 yards, 1956) to rewrite the record books.
Gronowski has scored a rushing touchdown in 11 of Iowa's 12 games this season. Last week's win over Michigan State was the only game of the season in which Gronowski didn't find the end zone on the ground. His dual-threat element has brought a new dimension to an Iowa offense that desperately needed one this season.

Gronowski pulled even with Sedrick Shaw (1995) and Marcus Coker (2011), who each had 15 rushing scores in a single season as Hawkeyes. Kaleb Johnson set the single-season rushing touchdowns record last season with 21.
With a bowl game remaining, Gronowski could continue to climb the single-season rushing touchdowns list.
