You don’t notch an eighth straight win against your hated instate rival without a total team effort. Even then, some players are bound to distinguish themselves above the crowd. Those prime time performers are your MVDs, the most valuable ‘Dawgs from Georgia’s 16-9 win over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

Offense: Zachariah Branch. For awhile it looked like the Bulldogs might not need to put the ball in the air once to win this game. But in the end it was Branch’s touchdown reception and late 23 yard first down reception that probably made the difference in this one.

Defense: Ellis Robinson. Exhibit A:

Special teams: Peyton Woodring. Don’t get me wrong, Brett Thorson had a nice afternoon punting the ball. But Woodring’s trio of field goals from 22, 30, and finally 50 yards were numerically the margin of victory. Perhaps more important, had he missed any of those (especially the late 50 yarder) it’s hard to gauge exactly how profound the momentum shift could have been.

As always, we welcome your selections in the comments.

Go ‘Dawgs!!!
