The Pittsburgh Steelers haven't won a playoff game since 2016. Once considered "America's Team" by some for a short period (depending on who you ask), fans had a right to be excited about the franchise's future. Mike Tomlin has led them to two Super Bowl appearances, winning one, and has put together multiple seasons of winning. However, Pittsburgh has won only three playoff games since the 2010 season and hasn't won one since 2016.

Longtime NFL insider Josina Anderson recently posted on social media, sparking controversy. Although no names were mentioned, some folks are claiming the person she spoke of could be Steelers coach Mike Tomlin. "There's a longtime NFL head coach out there who is considering wanting a change of scenery & has told others of these thoughts," Anderson said on X. "If he acts on those lingering feelings, his departure would clearly add to the list of vacancies."

Tomlin has been very consistent in his 19 years at the helm, but with the Steelers currently sitting at 6-5 in a very competitive AFC Conference, the stage may be set for his departure in the offseason as the playoff drought looks to continue due to the Steelers' inconsistency in finding a WR2, among a couple of other crucial needs going forward. The New York Giants and the Tennessee Titans have already parted ways with their coaches, but neither looks like an opportunity Tomlin would be willing to take to lead a rebuild. The Atlanta Falcons could be a serious contender for Tomlin's fresh start if he chooses.

This may be Raheem Morris' final year as the Falcons' head coach. Tomlin could bring the old-school toughness mentality to the Atlanta Falcons locker room. The opportunities for Tomlin around the league will become clearer as we head into the offseason, with a few more openings sure to arise in the head coaching ranks as the temperature rises on coaching hot seats around the NFL. It is definitely a topic worth keeping an eye on.
