Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green is a hot basketball topic right now, because of his online beef with former No.1 pick Kenyon Martin.
On the latest episode of the "No Fouls Given" podcast, co-hosts Paul Pierce and Danny Green talked about Draymond, though not because of his squabble with Martin.

"Who's the greatest role player of all time? I think Draymond's a role player, bro," said Green." That's why I think he's the greatest role player of all-time: He's going to the Hall of Fame."
Not a star on any other team
As Pierce said, Draymond was part of the Golden State Big 3, which led the Warriors to four NBA championships from 2015 to 2022. However, one could argue that in two of those title runs, it was Kevin Durant, the third member of the triumvirate.

However, Green thinks he accomplished what he did because the fit in The Bay was perfect. But if we put Dray on another team, it's a totally different story.
"So if you put him in Charlotte, is he still going to be a superstar? Is he a Big 3 guy on a team like that? Is he a Big 3 guy on a team like that? (If he can't) So he's a role player. They have LaMelo, Brandon Miller, Miles Bridges, and Kon Knueppel. Would you consider him a star on that team? Any team, would he be a star? That's why he's a role player, cuz he's not a star on any team," he added.
Teague called Dray the "Ultimate team player"
Danny made a lot of sense with his argument, but perhaps he shouldn't have used the word' role player' because that sounds somewhat degrading to a player of Dray's status. Perhaps Jeff Teague had the more accurate description when he explained the true basketball value of Draymond, calling him the 'ultimate team player.'
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisement"I don't see Draymond Green as an individual player; I look at him as the ultimate team player. I ain't looking for his stats to be crazy, but as far as winning, you know what he brings to the table. So, all those dudes, their stats might be better, but they might not bring nothing that he brings to the table. They probably not the best leader," Teague said on his show.
"They probably not work as hard, probably not sacrificing like he do."
Whether Draymond is a role player, superstar, ultimate team player, or whatever, he is a four-time NBA champion and a sure-fire Hall of Famer when his career is over. And both the rings and the Orange jacket are what really matter most to real hoopers, not titles.
