The South Bay Lakers headed south on Saturday to take on the San Diego Clippers. Unfortunately, they weren't able to build on the 5-1 record they came into this game with.

The Lakers were able to keep pace with the Clippers in the first quarter. But San Diego established a lead in the second quarter and were able to withstand a South Bay rally to come out with a 124-113 victory.

Rookie guard R.J. Davis led South Bay with 24 points, along with six rebounds and three assists. Center Kylor Kelley had 18 points and 13 rebounds. Bronny James shot 4-of-12 from the field and missed all five of his 3-point attempts, and he finished with 10 points, five rebounds, one assist and four turnovers.

For the Clippers, wing Taylor Funk had a game-high 30 points and went 8-of-11 from 3-point range while grabbing 10 rebounds.

South Bay now has a 5-2 record and is second in the West Division behind the Salt Lake City Stars.
