CBS Sports had long predicted that Michigan football would face Texas in the Citrus Bowl, assuming that Ohio State would beat the Wolverines in Ann Arbor in Week 14. While the latter turned out to be prescient, CBS stayed the course on one hand, keeping U-M in the Citrus Bowl in its latest projection, but pitting the maize and blue against Vanderbilt for the 12th time in program history.

But ESPN also projects bowl games, and both writers who do so are on the same page as it pertains to the Wolverines' postseason fate.

Mark Schlabach and Kyle Bonagura both have Michigan in the Citrus Bowl in Orlando on December 31, and both project that the Wolverines will play fellow 9-3 team, Texas, in the postseason tilt.

Michigan last faced Texas in The Big House in Week 2 of the 2024 season. The Wolverines lost after a bad first half. 31-12, though they showed more moxie defensively in the second half. Texas showcased a high-powered defense in the Week 1 loss to Ohio State, but struggled mightily on offense through much of the season. However, quarterback Arch Manning started to figure things out and even helped lead the Longhorns to a win over No. 3 Texas A&M on Friday night.

The Wolverines are also set to face Texas in 2027, with Michigan making the return trip on the back-end of a home-and-home, traveling to Austin in the nonconference slate that year. Next year will see the conclusion of the Oklahoma home-and-home with the Sooners coming to Ann Arbor.

Michigan will learn its postseason fate next Sunday.
