The 2025 Formula 1 season is on the cusp of a thrilling finale with three drivers in contention for glory.

Lando Norris made the perfect start to his title challenge in Australia as he looks to dethrone reigning champion Max Verstappen.

The first sprint weekend of the 2025 campaign followed, with Lewis Hamilton recording his maiden win with Ferrari in the condensed race in China. However, it was McLaren who cleaned up in the Grand Prix race, with Oscar Piastri taking the chocolates ahead of Norris.

Verstappen got on the board in the third race in Japan as he continued his dominance at Suzuka to edge the McLaren duo.

Piastri hit back in impressive fashion, earning three consecutive wins in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Miami. At Imola, Verstappen overtook his rival on the opening lap before claiming a fourth consecutive win at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.

Monaco bore witness to a masterful qualifying lap from Norris, who then took the chequered flag, and his teammate won in Barcelona at the start of June before Mercedes' George Russell claimed his first win of the season in Canada. Piastri and Norris colliding in Montreal provided an intriguing subplot to the race weekend and the season to come, not least in Austria, where the Englishman had to go wheel-to-wheel with his team-mate to secure glory.

Norris made it back-to-back triumphs, further trimming the gap with an emotional victory on home soil at a chaotic, rain-lashed British Grand Prix. He was second to Piastri at a rain-delayed Spa, but he held off his teammate in the closing stages in Hungary to close the gap at the top once more.

At the Dutch Grand Prix, Piastri led from start to finish, while Norris' late mechanical failure struck a potentially significant blow to his title aspirations. Verstappen then delivered a dominant display at Monza to finish ahead of the two McLarens and backed it up with another victory in Azerbaijan, where Piastri crashed out on the first lap.

Russell enjoyed a surprise victory in Singapore ahead of Verstappen, who then triumphed in Austin, Texas to set up a potentially thrilling denouement to the season.

Norris won in Mexico and backed it up with victory in Brazil's sprint and grand prix. However, disqualifications for the two McLarens in Las Vegas meant Verstappen's victory kept in title contention with just two races to go.

The Dutchman's win in Qatar, after McLaren's pit stop strategy backfired, meant he joined Piastri and Norris on seven wins apiece for the season. All three of them have a chance of glory on the final weekend in Abu Dhabi.

Below, The Sporting News will keep you updated with the drivers' and constructors' championship standings throughout 2025.
