At first glance, this video could pass for a scene from a found-footage horror film with a tense buildup and a textbook jumpscare.

But the chilling clip isn’t from Hollywood, it is real bodycam footage of a Met Police officer sweeping through a dark basement during a shift.

The video was shared by the Met Police, accompanied by the Stranger Things theme tune.

Officers saw a suspect entering the property and when they carried out a search of the address, they uncovered a basement.

The video shows the officer, with a torch, entering a bathroom where the shower curtain is creepily pulled around the bath.

In true Blair Witch fashion, the officer lets out a bloodcurdling scream as he pulls back the shower curtain, revealing a figure standing in the bathtub.

Turns out the motionless figure was not a ghost or evil spirit, instead it was a convicted drug dealer breaching a court order.

The officer is heard saying: ‘Jesus Christ! Right, come out here, you’re under arrest.’

Once outside of the property and the arrested person’s rights are read, the officer admitted they ‘gave me the fright of my life, I can’t lie.’

Viewers on TikTok were rather amused by the video, with many making jokes in the comment section.

Many commented that the police officer would never be able to live this footage down.

One user said: ‘Hahaha, class. Imagine this being played in court,’ to which the Met Police’s TikTok account responded: ‘with the tune from the shower scene in Psycho.’

Another person’s faith in the force was restored as they commented: ‘I think I like the Met Police now.’

Although the video is rather amusing, it was an actual incident and arrest.

The Met Police said: ‘It looks like it was in Colvestone Crescent, E8.

‘A female was charged with breaching her bail conditions and is still awaiting sentencing for possession with intent to supply Class B.’

‘Gave me the fright of my life, I can’t lie.’
