Newly named Auburn football head coach Alex Golesh is ready to bring his brand of football to the Plains.
In his first comments since being named head coach on Sunday morning, Golesh recognized Auburn's proud history, and shares the dream of bringing the program back to an elite level.

This will be a player-driven program, and no one will outwork our staff. Auburn has won, can win and will win championships. Let’s get to work.”
Golesh takes over the Auburn football program after leading USF to 23 wins in three seasons with two bowl wins. He brings a strong offensive background to the Plains as his offenses have posted quality numbers in recent years. Golesh led Tennessee to the No. 1 ranking in total offense in 2022, his second season on Rocky Top as offensive coordinator. During his lone season at UCF in 2020, the Knights posted 568.1 yards per game, which ranked No. 2 in the country.
His offensive mindset has translated well to his role as head coach, as USF has ranked in the top 20 in two of his three seasons as the leading man in Tampa, and has led the Bulls to the No. 2 offensive ranking in 2025 with 500.6 yards per game. USF also ranks No. 4 in points scored per game by averaging 43.0 points per contest.
One constant for Golesh at USF is quarterback Byrum Brown. Brown has been responsible for 7,690 passing yards and 2,265 rushing yards, with 92 total touchdowns in three seasons under Golesh's leadership. This season, Brown has passed for 3,158 yards and rushed for 1,008 yards, becoming the 12th player in college football history to pass for 3,000 yards and rush for 1,000 yards in the same season.
