Dave Doeren isn’t going anywhere

Dave Doeren will be NC State’s head football coach in 2026, not that this comes as any surprise after his team pummeled UNC on Saturday night and clinched a winning season in the process. NC State isn’t releasing anything official on this—that would imply there was some doubt here—but the AP’s Aaron Beard caught up with Dave on Sunday to discuss the matter:

“I have full intention of being here,” Doeren said in an interview with the AP between recruiting visits as signing day looms Wednesday. “I love working for Boo Corrigan. I’m recruiting my (butt) off. … I’m all in.”

A seven-win season was far from guaranteed with the Pack sitting at 4-4 entering November, and Dave deserves credit for rallying this team to finish strong. To be able to do that at home and also pick up a fifth straight win over the Heels was icing on the cake and restored some much-needed positivity to the program. Now let’s see if he can build on it in the offseason—maybe even win a bowl game!—and make the upgrades on the defensive side that will be necessary for a stronger 2026.
