Stretches like the one we're enduring are why conversations are born about mismanagement of talent. Sometimes, NFL stars find their perfect situation. More often, they waste great years on some bad football teams. What might have happened had Saquon Barkley joined the Philadelphia Eagles sooner? Why couldn't anyone in the New Orleans Saints' organization figure out that Zack Baun could play? How did the NFL allow Quinyon Mitchell to fall to Philadelphia at the 22nd overall selection?

With Thanksgiving still fresh on our minds, let's feast on our guy Mitchell for a second. Yes, the play on words was intentional. Yes, this young man has been everything the Eagles have asked for and more.

Quinyon Mitchell deserves All-Pro consideration.

Regardless of where this ride takes us, the 2025-26 Philadelphia Eagles have already written an entertaining story. They've provided both twists and turns. One involves Vic Fangio's defense.

After losing Darius Slay, Josh Sweat, Milton Williams, Isaiah Rodgers, Oren Burks, and Avonte Maddox during free agency, some thought Philadelphia's defense might stumble. Some said that the offense would have to carry them. Instead, we have seen the opposite. It has been Fangio's unit that has brought this team through adversity, often carrying the entire team to the finish line.

In fact, the Eagles' defense has been so good that no one has beaten them up too badly for six bad quarters. Plus, it's easy to see this team is set up to win for a while, thanks to All-Pro talents like Quinyon Mitchell.

Did you see what we did there? All-Pro talent... That wasn't accidental. It was intentional. The aforementioned Quinyon Mitchell's rookie season ended with both him and Cooper DeJean being named as Defensive Rookie of the Year finalists.

They'd lose to Los Angeles Rams star Jared Verse. It's hard to beat promising rookie pass rushers, but what's more important is that Mitchell, barring injury, is set to be one of the game's great cover cornerbacks for a while.

Few cornerbacks are targeted more often. Even fewer are more successful when they are. The 'Quinyanamo Bay' nickname is well-deserved. Coach Fangio leaves him on an island, and visitors are treated like stowaways, made to walk the plank for being so disrespectful to believe they'll enjoy some success.

Mitchell's phenomenal season continued into Week 13. The Eagles lost to the Chicago Bears. Adding insult to injury was the worst defensive performance of the season. None of that can be blamed on Mr. Mitchell.

He was targeted seven times. He allowed three catches for 14 yards. He played 87 snaps, continuing a campaign where opposing quarterbacks have completed less than 45% of his passes.

In Week 14, the Eagles travel to visit the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday Night Football. It is expected that the Chargers will attempt to showcase a running game, but Justin Herbert will present a massive challenge to Mitchell and company whenever the play call requires L.A. to take its attack to the air.
