INDIANAPOLIS – Colts quarterback Daniel Jones said his reportedly fractured fibula “felt better” Sunday than a week ago, when Jones looked somewhat restricted in a road loss to the Chiefs.
Jones’ stats alone in Sunday’s 20-16 home loss to the Texans weren’t exactly uber-positive – 14-for-27 for 201 yards and two touchdowns, no turnovers and one sack – but his physical shortcomings didn’t at all jump off the page the same way they did last Sunday or in Thursday’s practice this week.

‘Did it feel similar or different to how it felt last week?’ IndyStar asked Jones in a follow-up question.
“Yeah, it felt better than last week,” Jones replied.
In the first opportunity for media to speak with Jones since the NFL Network’s report of the specifics of his fibula injury – a fracture, Ian Rapoport reported Thursday – Jones declined to confirm the fracture, as Colts head coach Shane Steichen did Friday when speaking with reporters.
“I’m not going to get into specifics on it,” he said. “I feel good enough to play. Doctors cleared me to play, so that’s what I’m going to do.”

“I thought he played pretty good,” Steichen said of his QB’s play Sunday. “He threw two touchdowns. He had over 100 passer rating, but credit to the Texans. That’s the top defense in the league.
“They had some tight window throws, and we had to make some contested catches. But I thought (Jones) played – overall, I thought he played pretty well.”
