Julen Guerrero: “If several coaches don’t work out the same way, the problem is deeper”

Speaking on RadioEstadio Noche, Julen Guerrero framed Real Madrid’s third straight draw as a symptom of something deeper than a rough patch. His critique centered on squad construction, tactical adaptation, and the fallout from the recent Vinícius–Xabi Alonso incident.

“If several coaches don’t work out the same way, the problem is somewhere else… Real Madrid needs to strengthen the squad,” Guerrero said, pointing directly at the roster rather than the manager.

He also questioned the club’s broader sporting direction: “We need to see if Madrid is betting on a project or on immediate results.” “Madrid isn’t used to a tactical system like Xabi’s, it’s something that needs time.”
