Hazbin Hotel composer Sam Haft has teased season 3's "fascinating" fan-favorite pairings and how they'll factor into the show's upcoming songs. Hazbin Hotel season 2's songs featured a number of unique solos and duets throughout. This included a key focus on Vox, who had two solo songs, alongside unique duets, like Sir Pentious and Sera's "Live to Live."

In an interview with ScreenRant's Tatiana Hullender, Haft explained that, while Hazbin Hotel season 2 had a larger focus on villain songs, season 3 has a different approach to its soundtrack. The composer also teased that some duets and pairings coming to season 3 will make some "very happy people online" once they are revealed. See what Haft said below:

ScreenRant: What are you most excited for fans to see in season 3?

Sam Haft: Well, I look back at season 2 and, in spite of the fact that this is not a hundred percent true across the soundtrack, our sort of inside joke was like, "Oops, all villain songs!" There are so many villainous songs in season 2. In the same way that season 2 had a vibe that it leaned on, season 3 has a different vibe that it leans on. We completed it a while back, but I really couldn't spoil it for you right now.

Everything's written, though, and at the moment, we're wrapping up writing for season 4.

ScreenRant: This may lead to a spoiler, but I personally am excited for what Lilith songs are going to sound like. Anything you can say about that?

Sam Haft: I'm excited for the audience to find out! I think one of the things that's really interesting about starting any new season - and this totally applies to seasons 3 and 4 - is that when we start the music process, we are asking ourselves, "What haven't we heard yet? Who haven't we heard in X context yet? Who haven't we heard sing at all?" That is something that we really do try and keep in mind.

And I will say, I have seen some internet chatter from people begging for certain kinds of songs or certain combinations of characters or certain solo songs. Without saying what they are, I think there are going to be some very, very happy people online when season 3 starts coming out.

Season 3 is a fascinating season. Viv has spoken at length about how it is currently her favorite season of the four, and I understand why that is. It really does tell a very specific, almost self-contained story. It's still a very far-reaching plot, but it really has a super specific story to tell with a beginning, a middle, and an end. And, really, I'm so thrilled. Literally, season 2's finale just came out, and I'm already thrilled for season 3 to start.

Hazbin Hotel season 2 ended with direct setup for how season 3's story will play out. Charlie worked together with the rest of Hell to destroy Vox's weapon, while also working with Sera to prove that Pentious was redeemed. As the titular hotel is slowly becoming a success, she finally gets a call back from her mother, Lilith.

Haft's tease that Hazbin Hotel season 3 will have a contained plot signifies a core focus on the Morningstar family and the aftermath of Alastor getting freed from his deals. This will include Lilith as a primary character, therefore indicating she'll be getting some songs. This may involve other members of the cast, most likely including Charlie and Lucifer.

As for the upcoming duets, Haft emphasized that those discussing possibilities online will be satisfied with the results. Some characters that have yet to have a duet include Lucifer and any of the angelic characters, such as Lute, Sera, and Abel. Another possibility is Alastor and Charlie, who haven't sung together yet despite their plot importance to each other.

Given Lilith will be showing up, the intermingling between Heaven and Hell makes it more likely duets will happen between characters in both realms. But, since most of the characters in Hazbin Hotel can't leave their respective locations, it's unclear how many duets between angels and sinners there could be. However, plenty of possibilities still exist for many different renditions.

Haft's hints about Hazbin Hotel season 3's pairings signal some very different yet much-requested songs are going to arrive soon. The series still has a plethora of character combinations it has yet to use. Based on the composer's statements, some major, much-requested ones are going to be arriving as soon as the next episodes come out.
