When Emeka Ihedigbo sat down to watch football at home, he didn’t realize his still position made him the perfect candidate for a makeover.

A TikTok clip shared by his wife Nika Diwa, 35, (@nikadiwa) shows Ihedigbo’s head covered in multicolored gems, along with his eyebrows, lips and a makeshift moustache.

“My husband is the ultimate girl dad!” Diwa told Newsweek: “Our daughters Zion, four, and two-year-old Zuri love creative play and he is always down to join in.”

Diwa, who lives in Dallas, Texas, added that it took hours to remove all of the beads with a washcloth and soap.

...

But it was a win win situation as Zion was able to play and her 48-year-old dad did indeed manage to watch the game.

Racking up 6.5 million views, the patient 48-year-old man and his daughter Zion, four, have melted many hearts online.

“What an amazing dad!” praised one user and another wrote: “He's [got] so much patience and just loves being a girl dad.”

The playful moment also taps into a broader conversation about fatherhood and daughters. According to a Gallup survey that has been conducted since 1941, the answer remains the same – men have a high preference for a son.

But having a daughter has been proven as beneficial for men, according to a 2018 study from Jagiellonian University in Poland. It turns out every daughter a man had was linked to him living longer—about 74 extra weeks (around 1.4 years) per daughter. Sons didn’t make a noticeable difference to how long fathers lived.

And it isn’t just Ihedigbo who is being praised in the comments, but Zion too.

“She lined that up better than a barber,” pointed out one comment with X likes.

“Obsessed with her creative vision,” said another user.

“This is what happens, when Mom try to have a day to herself,” said a third — a joke that reflects the reality many mothers face, especially in the early months after birth.

Research conducted by Universities of York and Durham, Leeds Beckett University and University College London, shows that new mothers only have approximately one hour out of their waking day for rest. The study also shows that time ‘alone’ for new mothers is now always with their baby present and this time is rarely restful.

Instead, it is filled with non-stop chores and emotional overload leading to increased stress, loneliness and emotional exhaustion. When mothers had even small amounts of quality me-time — where they were not looking after the baby or working for example — they felt better.

For Diwa’s family, the glitter makeover was a small but telling snapshot of that balance — a dad happily stepping into his daughters’ creative world, a child beaming with her “creative vision,” and, for a little while at least, a mom able to get a moment of rest.
