Everyone’s favorite basketball metric is back, as the NET rankings for the 2025-26 season have officially been released. The Deacs are currently ranked #56 and are likely being boosted by a 1-point overtime loss to the current #1 team in the NET, the Michigan Wolverines. Wake’s highest NET ranking in the 2024-25 season was #58, so the Deacs are already ahead of where they were at their best last season.
As for the Quad system, the Deacs are sitting at 0-2 in Quad 1 games (#1 Michigan and #37 Texas Tech), 0-0 in Quad 2 games, 1-0 in Quad 3 games (#160 Memphis), and 5-0 in Quad 4 games (everyone else). Wake currently has 6 more Q1 games against #4 Vanderbilt, #40 NC State, #26 UNC, #2 Duke, #9 Louisville, and #31 UVA. The bad news is that Wake has 8 Q3 games remaining, including Oklahoma and West Virgina—teams that were expected to be resume boosters at the beginning of the season.
All of this can change pretty quickly, however, so it’s hard to determine right now how tough the schedule will end up being. The Deacs started off the season in triple digits in the NET in both 2024 and 2023 and moved up 50+ spots both years (over 100 spots in 2023!), so the initial rankings aren’t all that important. The ACC appears to be much better than they were a season ago, but there are definitely still some games on the schedule that could torpedo Wake’s resume, namely Georgia Tech, Boston College, and Pitt.
Wake has some work to do, but they are in a good spot to start the season.
Go Deacs!
