By Maria Azzurra VolpeShareNewsweek is a Trust Project memberAfter being dumped at a local shelter aged 8 and witnessing all the other dogs get adopted but her, a pup named Molly has started to give up hope of ever finding a family—and internet users can’t stop crying over her.
In a video shared on TikTok in October by Jackie Gonzalez, a volunteer at the Valley Animal Center in Fresno, California, under the username @jjack.iie, the pup can be seen sitting down in her kennel like a good girl, pretending to be fine while she’s heartbroken inside. As she sits alone behind the kennel bars, Molly looks away from people, as if she already knows nobody is actually there for her. "POV [point of view]: you were dumped at the animal shelter at just 8 years old," the caption reads.
Gonzalez told Newsweek that Molly is pit bull mix who was heartbreakingly dumped at the facility with a note saying her family could no longer provide for her, but, despite everything, she remains a sweet, active dog who adores cuddles and human affection.
..."Unfortunately, Molly has been overlooked for months and hasn’t had a single inquiry," Gonzalez said.
She added that Molly would do best as the only pet in the home while the volunteers continue helping her feel more comfortable around other dogs.
"As time passes, she’s beginning to lose hope and is showing signs of kennel stress. Molly is truly deserving of a second chance and a loving forever home," Gonzalez added.
The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) says that almost 3 million homeless dogs entered American shelters in 2024, and of those, only about 2 millions were adopted into new loving families.
The rest of the pups, 554,000 were returned to their owner, 524,000 were transferred to other organizations, and 334,000 were euthanized, mostly for lack of space in the facilities hosting them.

The video has so far received over 2,290 views and 564 likes on the platform.
One user, Kali, commented: "Molly. I’m so sorry honey. It would be so hard to be locked away when you just want home. Love you so much. You’re such a beautiful girl with so much soul in those eyes."
Mariana posted: "Look at those eyes she’s just so confused and heartbroken, I can’t please."
Yulairamartinez added: "She looks so sweet!"
