New England Patriots rookie left tackle Will Campbell left last week's game against the Cincinnati Bengals early with a knee injury. It was a scary moment that had many fearing for the worst initially, but it was confirmed days later that he had suffered an MCL sprain.
That led to the team moving Campbell to injured reserve, which guarantees he will miss at least the next four games of the season. He wouldn't be eligible for a return until the team's rematch with the Miami Dolphins in the regular season finale.

With Campbell sidelined, the Patriots are expected to once again turn to veteran offensive tackle Vederian Lowe as their top option on the left side. Lowe struggled last season with penalties and pass protection. However, he recently revealed that he played with a torn labrum last season and underwent shoulder surgery in the offseason.
Now that he is finally healthy, the Patriots are hopeful that he can contribute meaningful snaps while Campbell recovers from his knee injury.
“I had a torn labrum from last year that I played with,” Lowe said, via MassLive's Mark Daniels. “It was just rough trying to finish the year out. I got surgery. My first offseason dealing with a major injury, trying to get myself back. I was proud of getting myself back, being able to be productive, and securing a spot here. I think the work that I put in was good for the coaches to trust me enough to put me in there.
“So, the opportunity means everything.”
