The Beatles Anthology documentary series debuts to a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score after all episodes of the show were dropped on streaming. The Beatles documentary was originally released in six parts in 1995 in the UK. It's since seen multiple re-releases. Its latest release was on Disney+ in eight expanded episodes, alongside a bonus ninth episode at the end.

The show's debut hasn't just been a milestone for Disney+ as a streaming service, though. According to Rotten Tomatoes, the 2025 re-release of The Beatles Anthology holds a perfect 100% score from critics based on nine reviews. The series is being praised for its approach to their music careers, alongside praise afforded to the extra episode as well.

Stuart Heritage of The Guardian praised the documentary series for remastering the original, specifically happy with the way the audio sounds in contrast to the original. The quality is much higher, something also noted by David Bianculli of NPR, who is also satisfied with the expansion of the series through new footage and other additional elements involved.

Jordan Bassett of NME offered particular praise to the extra ninth episode at the end of the series. It justifies the re-release of the docuseries by adding new context while staying true to the 1995 version. Based on these reviews, it appears the series is getting better reception than The Beatles: Get Back, their 2021 docuseries also on Disney+.

In addition, Sarah Moran's review of The Beatles Anthology for ScreenRant emphasizes Peter Jackson's role in the documentary, while also describing the final episode as "A Bittersweet Sendoff" to the band. With reception being so positive, it's clear interest in the band and the mark they made on music isn't going to be dampening anytime soon.

This same level of interest will likely follow through into Sam Mendes' biopics about The Beatles. The four films will each follow the perspective of one band member, Paul McCartney (Paul Mescal), George Harrison (Joseph Quinn), Ringo Starr (Barry Keoghan), and John Lennon (Harris Dickinson). The movies will all be released theatrically in April 2028.

With The Beatles Anthology offering an impressive look back on the famous band's history, it sounds like it'll reign as one of the best docuseries about the band ever produced. Even with the extra episode, it doesn't appear tacked-on, instead delivering a historical finale that aligns with the band and the documentary's portrayal of them as a whole.

All episodes of The Beatles Anthology are now streaming on Disney+.
