After three losses on the bounce, Liverpool finally got a mood boosting win on Sunday, dispatching struggling West Ham 2-0 on the road. After their struggles this season, though, nobody’s reading too much into it. A win is a win, and that’s a heck of a lot better than another defeat, but if it’s a one-off it won’t count for much.
As such, there’s also no real point in looking at the table or paying much attention to what other sides in the Premier League are doing. All Liverpool can do is focus on themselves and on preparing for their next opponents, which are a Sunderland side in good form and set to visit Anfield for a rare mid-week league fixture.

There’s no point for us to look at any table—we didn’t do it last year and shouldn’t do it now either. The only thing we should look at is trying to find consistency in the way we play, defend, attack.”
A month ago, Liverpool broke another run of poor form with victories over Aston Vill and Real Madrid—and fell straight back into struggling. Then, there was plenty of talk about it being a corner turned. Talk that turned out to be pre-mature. This time around, the reaction seems far more muted, and perhaps more determined.
Only time will tell if that will be to this side’s benefit, but with Sunderland up quickly on Wednesday at Anfield and then a meeting with Leeds on the road next weekend, we shouldn’t have to wait long to perhaps get a slightly better idea of whether this struggling Liverpool side have finally begun to find their feet and form.
