PHILADELPHIA -- The Philadelphia 76ers had another first on the season in Sunday's heartbreaking double overtime loss to the Atlanta Hawks. With Joel Embiid, Paul George, and Tyrese Maxey all on the floor together for the first time on the season, it also marked the first time rookie VJ Edgecombe played with all three stars.
Edgecombe, who was returning from a left calf issue that held him out for three games, had seven points on 3-for-6 shooting in 21 minutes. The Sixers had him on a minutes restriction as they have to work his way back into things following the injury, but he was in the starting lineup alongside the Big 3 and per Cleaning the Glass, the Sixers had a 54.5% effective field goal percentage in the 15 possessions they played together.

So I just be ready the whole time. Just get out and get us going in transition. Just try to get something easy. Just try to be a threat. Take some of the pressure off of them."
As with everything else, the Sixers will need time to make sure Edgecombe is on the same page with Embiid, George, and Maxey. That means constant reps in practice, game action, and a lot of film work. Luckily for the Sixers and the coaching staff, they have a lot of hard workers with Maxey and Edgecombe leading in that department. One should expect the rookie to make sure he gets it down as quickly as possible as Philadelphia moves forward.
As far as his injury is concerned, Edgecombe said his calf is feeling fine. It's just about getting playing time at this point.
"Calf is great," he finished. "I feel great. I was able to run up and down with no pain or anything like that. I'm not sore or anything right now. So God is good. My calf is great."
