By Andrew RavensShareNewsweek is a Trust Project memberWhile the professional wrestling world was largely focused on the dramatic events of Survivor Series in San Diego, a sour note was struck on the other side of the country involving a beloved WWE Hall of Famer. As John Cena was battling for his career in his penultimate match against Dominik Mysterio on the West Coast, the annual WrestleCade convention in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, became the scene of a theft targeting the legendary Jimmy Hart.
Hart, known as "The Mouth of the South," was a featured guest at the popular fan convention, which draws stars from various eras of wrestling history. However, the celebratory atmosphere was dampened when Hart's trademark megaphone—an iconic prop synonymous with his decades-long career—was stolen during the event.
WrestleCade organizers quickly took to social media to address the incident, issuing a stern warning to the perpetrator while offering a brief window for amnesty.
"Someone stole Jimmy Hart’s megaphone at the convention yesterday. The venue has HD cameras and police will review the footage tomorrow. Jimmy isn’t looking to press charges — he just wants it back. If you took it, DM us," the statement read.

The airbrushed megaphone is more than just a prop; it has been an integral part of Hart's persona since his days in Memphis Wrestling. Throughout his tenure in WWE and WCW, the megaphone was frequently used not only to amplify Hart's signature high-pitched shouting but also as a foreign object to secure illegal victories for his clients.
...Hart managed a "Who's Who" of wrestling royalty, including The Hart Foundation, The Natural Disasters, The Nasty Boys, and Greg "The Hammer" Valentine.
Hart is perhaps best known for his long association with Hulk Hogan. He was by Hogan's side during the crucial transition period in 1993 when they both departed WWE for WCW, and he remained a key figure in Hogan's career during the "Dungeon of Doom" era. Most recently, Hart appeared on-screen during Hogan's controversial final WWE appearance on the debut episode of Raw on Netflix in January 2025, a segment that saw the wrestling icon booed out of the building.
Organizers have set a strict deadline for the item's return, stating that the "police investigation moves forward" on December 2. With the convention venue equipped with high-definition surveillance, officials are confident they will identify the thief if the item is not surrendered voluntarily. As of Monday morning, there has been no confirmation that the memorabilia has been recovered, leaving the deadline looming for the individual responsible.
