The Cincinnati Reds had a great season in 2025; they went 83-79 and snagged the last Wild Card spot over the super payroll of the New York Mets. Now that they have a truly solid team, they need to make a couple of upgrades to really make themselves a contender.

Bleacher Report’s Joel Reuter believes that the Reds may not be willing to sign a big free agent, but they could trade for a star. And, the star Reuter pegged was Cleveland Guardians two-time All-Star Steven Kwan.

The trade would look like this:

Reds get: OF Steven Kwan

Guardians get: SS Tyson Lewis, RHP Chase Petty, RHP Zach Maxwell

“The Reds are unlikely to do any real spending in free agency, but they could make a push to acquire Steven Kwan to fill a long-standing void in their outfield, especially coming off a surprise playoff berth…The Kwan market likely won't take shape until Kyle Tucker and Cody Bellinger have both signed, but there is still a real chance he is moved this winter,” Reuter wrote.

This past season, Kwan slashed .272/.330/.374/.705 with 29 doubles, 11 home runs, and 56 RBI in 156 games played. He would be a real upgrade over Will Benson, as Kwan received his second All-Star nod in two years, and his fourth Gold Glove, which he’s won every year he’s been in the MLB.

Getting a bat and glove like Kwan into the Reds lineup is just what they need. They have the pitching; all they need is to upgrade their position players. Hopefully, they call up Cleveland soon, as Kwan will probably be a top trade target this offseason.
