Coming into this season, people talked about the likelihood of a revenge tour for Luka Doncic after he was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers in February. Following the trade, at least one report came out about his lack of dedication to his health and fitness, and he responded by dropping lots of weight and getting into much better shape this past summer.

Through 19 games, the Lakers are in second place in the Western Conference, and Doncic has led the way in fantastic fashion. He's averaging a league-high 35.1 points, plus 9.2 assists, 8.7 rebounds and 1.7 steals a game, and he also has more free throw attempts and free throw makes per game than anyone else. He allowed them to win games in bunches while LeBron James missed their first 14 games due to sciatica.

On Monday, Doncic was named the Western Conference Player of the Week by the NBA. Jalen Brunson of the New York Knicks won the Eastern Conference Player of the Week award.

Los Angeles has a seven-game winning streak, and Doncic has been coming out strong to begin games and get his team off to hot starts offensively. On Sunday versus the New Orleans Pelicans, he scored 20 points in the first quarter, and as a team, L.A. established a season-high with 46 points in the period. It went on to win the game by 12 points.

This could be just the start of a season that leaves what the Slovenian did during prior seasons in the dust.
