As the fall high school sports season concludes and winter sports start, the Standard-Times will continue accepting nominations for City National Bank Athlete of the Week throughout the year.
Plenty of action and outstanding performances remain in the high school sports season as local volleyball teams conclude their postseason runs, football teams continue their playoff journeys and basketball teams open their seasons.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementThe Standard-Times will release a list of finalists for the High School Athlete of the Week each Monday, and several standouts were nominated for the most recent City National Bank Athlete of the Week award.

The poll starts each Monday and closes at 11 a.m. on Thursdays.
Nominees
Bode Bierschwale, Junction football – He had three carries for 50 yards rushing and two touchdowns, adding two catches for 46 yards receiving.
Slade Buell, Mason football – He had 29 carries for 183 yards rushing and two touchdowns, completed 4 of 6 attempts for 18 yards passing and a touchdown and had one catch for 42 yards receiving and one touchdown.

Branson Lacy, Water Valley football – He had 17 carries for 181 yards rushing and three touchdowns.
Brenner Sherwood, Robert Lee – He completed 19 of 33 attempts for 225 yards passing and two touchdowns, adding 22 carries for 95 yards rushing and one touchdown.
Kaelyn Wosley, Harper girls basketball – She had 16 points in a 42-28 win over Blanco.
Landon York, Wall football – He completed 18 of 26 attempts for 303 yards passing and four touchdowns.

Nominations for next week's award are due by 5 p.m. Saturday and can be submitted through email at [email protected].
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementStudents participating in all varsity sports are eligible for nomination. Please include an athlete's statistics/times from a single game/event in an email to the San Angelo Standard-Times.
Athletes who win Athlete of the Week cannot win the award twice for the same sport. An athlete can be nominated in a different sport, but can't win the award more than three times in a school year.
