Could big changes be coming to the Minnesota Vikings soon? According to Thor Nystrom of the Thor Talks Purple podcast, yes.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementIt's been a miserable season for the Vikings, who at 4-8 sit in a distant last place in the NFC North. On Monday, suggested that imminent changes could be coming to both the roster and coaching staff.
"I think...we are going to have firings," Nystrom said on Thor Talks Purple. "I'm curious if we get any (firings) today. I'm curious if we get any releases today. This could be the first day where you start to see a little bit of shaking up."
After starting the season 3-2, things have quickly gone downhill in Minnesota. Things have only gotten worse as the season has progressed. Week 13's loss to the Seattle Seahawks was, at least to this point, the nadir. The Vikings were shut out 26-0 and gained only 162 yards on offense. It was a performance that Nystrom rightly called "almost unwatchable."
It was also Minnesota's fourth consecutive loss. And while the Vikings aren't yet officially eliminated, there is no realistic path to the postseason. That's a far cry from a team that, just one year ago, went 14-3.
