Where Winds Meet has finally launched worldwide, with a massive reception for Western audiences, reaching over 2 million players in just 2 days after its global release. Players are really enjoying the free-to-play wuxia experience, and are particularly enjoying the versatility in builds that's possible.
In my experience, one of the most effective builds in Where Winds Meet incorporates the Infernal Twin Blades and Mortal Rope Dart martial arts talents to complete the Bamboocut - Wind path. I'm recommending the Swallowcall weapon set and the Calmwaters armor, though there are various weapon/armor sets that fit this path well.
Best Weapon Sets & Martial Arts Talents In Where Winds Meet
Because of Where Winds Meet's dynamic progression system, there are great builds for every playstyle and the best options may differ for every player. That said, the designated paths offer a synergy that you won't find easily for any sort of "hybrid build" that incorporates martial arts talents from non-path combinations.
In my view, the early to mid-game build is along the Bamboocut - Wind path, which utilizes the Infernal Twin Blades and Mortal Rope Dart martial arts. These are both high DPS melee options with high bleed potential that will wipe out most enemies with ease, though you'll need a deft hand as it can sometimes feel like a glass cannon build.
As far as weapon sets go, the Swallowcall set is a good fit for the Bamboocut - Wind path. With four pieces, the Swallowcall enables light attacks to deal 15% more damage against targets with low Qi and 5% more damage against exhausted targets. The Swallowcall set pieces can be acquired in the following ways:
- Complete the Blissful Retreat and/or Jinming Pool Campaign Mission
- Complete the Sword Trial
- Group Dungeons
Best Armor Set & Skills In Where Winds Meet
In terms of skills, the Bamboocut - Wind path recommends the following internal arts to synergize with both of your selected weapons above: Breaking Point, Echoes of Oblivion, Riptide Reflex, and Vendetta.
Breaking Point
Dealing critical damage to exhausted enemies grants 1 stack of disintegration. Each stack increases your external penetration and Critical Damage Bonus (max 3 stacks), lasting 3 seconds.
Echoes of Oblivion
Infernal Twinblades's normal Light Attack applies Malevolent Mark stacks to enemies. When in Blazing Wrath state, light Attacks apply Bitter Fate stacks. Attacking targets with Malevolent Mark or Bitter Fate causes the Infernal Twinblades to ignore 10% of the target's external defense and 10% Bamboocut Resistance, respectively.
Riptide Reflex
Hitting Enemies with Control Skills reduces the cooldown of your current martial arts skill. This effect can trigger once every 10 seconds.
Vendetta
Rope Dart extends the duration of Bounty Order and additionally restores Grace Tokens.
For armor, the Calmwaters set is recommended on the Bamboocut - Wind path. This set allows perfect dodges of an enemy attack to trigger a possible 50% chance of restoring 3% of your Max HP and 10 Endurance. You can get these set pieces by completing the Blissful Retreat, Jinming Pool, and Halo Peak campaign missions, completing a sword trial, or from group dungeons as well.
Overall, the Bamboocut - Wind path in Where Winds Meet is an extremely effective, high-DPS build that is ideal for early to mid-game quests. It offers great synergies for quick, single-target encounters, and allows for a versatile playstyle without being overly complicated.
