New Hampshire’s Maddy Lane and Lexi Paterna will race against the best in the country this month.

The high school cross-country runners each qualified for national races with their recent regional performances.

A junior at Hopkinton High School, Lane qualified for the Nike Cross Nationals, which are scheduled for Saturday at Glendoveer Golf Course in Portland, Oregon.

Paterna, a junior at Exeter High School, qualified for the Brooks (formerly Foot Locker) Cross Country Championships on Dec. 13 in San Diego.

Lane, this fall’s New England champion, placed fourth at the Nike Cross Nationals Northeast Regional on Nov. 22 at Bowdoin Park in Wappingers Falls, New York. She finished in a time of 17 minutes, 55.9 seconds, 55.3 seconds after the winner.

The top five individuals at each Nike regional qualified for the national race.

Lane placed 42nd at last year’s Nike Cross Nationals with a time of 18:14.6.

Paterna, the runner-up to Lane at the New England championships, finished sixth at the Brooks Northeast Cross Country Championships on Saturday at Franklin Park in Boston. Paterna earned a time of 17:25.8 at the regional.

The top 10 finishers at the Brooks regional qualified for the national race.
