Daniah Trammell has made an impact in her young career. The freshman has moved into the starting lineup for Arizona, where she anchors a four-guard lineup as the only post player. Her effort is getting noticed, as she was named to the Big 12 Starting Five after helping Arizona to a 2-0 week against Northern Colorado and CSU Bakersfield.

The Starting Five was introduced this year to give more players recognition. Each week, the Big 12 announces the Player of the Week and the Freshman of the Week. Three other players join that pair as the Starting Five of the Week. This week, Audi Crooks of Iowa State was the Player of the Week. BYU’s Sydney Bennally was the Freshman of the Week. Leah Harmon of UCF and S’Mya Nichols of Kansas round out the group of five.
Trammell set her career high with 22 points against Northern Colorado and averaged 15 points per game this week. On the season, she averages 13.2 ppg, good for second on the team. She also averages 2.8 rebounds per game while playing 23.5 minutes. She hits 57.1 percent of her shots from the field.
Arizona will take on Southern on Wednesday, Dec. 3 at 6 p.m. MST. The Wildcats then play New Mexico Sunday, Dec. 7 at 2 p.m. MST. All nonconference games are in McKale Center this year.
