Kyler Murray injury: QB will not return in Week 14 vs. Rams

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray can be designated to return from injured reserve. He has missed the requisite four games. However, he will not return this week. He will not even be designated to return this week, when a 21-day window to practice is opened, setting the stage for a return to the roster.

"We will not open his window, head coach Jonathan Gannon told reporters Monday, "(He’s) not quite there yet."

Murray has not played since Week 5, when he suffered a mid-foot sprain. He finished the game but then was expected to miss about three or four weeks. After he wasn't able to start after the bye against the Dallas Cowboys, he was placed on injured reserve, with the story being that he hadn't quite recovered and that he needed to focus on getting healthy.

Now, four weeks later, the message is still the same.

“He’s working every day, but I know he wants to be out there," Gannon said. "It’s just unfortunate right now.”

It has been more than two months for an injury originally believed to sideline him three to four weeks. Could he have had a setback? That perhaps was the case.

There isn't a lot that is known about where Murray is at healthwise, other than he is supposedly improving.

"He is doing things that he hadn't been able to do in the past here, so (we'll) just take it day by day.”

So when the Cardinals take on the Los Angeles Rams this weekend, it will once again be Jacoby Brissett.
