Nice players were physically assaulted by their own fans following the 3-1 defeat to Lorient.

The Eagles are currently in a midst of a crisis, losing six straight matches to drop down to 10th in Ligue 1 and also bottom of the Europa League table.

Things turned ugly after Nice lost 3-1 at Lorient on Sunday, as around 400 supporters gathered at the club’s training ground.

According to ESPN, two supporters got on the team bus to express their anger before some were physically assaulted when they disembarked.

The supporters were particularly angry at Jeremie Boga and Terem Moffi, as well as the club’s sporting director Florian Maurice.

Boga and Moffi were reportedly punched, spat at and insulted, and the two forwards have now been given leave from the team after the attack.

It is said the pair also went to local police on Monday to press charges against the assailants.

Boga drew the ire of fans for having invited Marseille fans into the Allianz Riviera for their 5-1 loss to Roberto De Zerbi’s side last month.

He later apologised in an Instagram post, insisting he didn’t intend to show disrespect towards Nice supporters.

Moffi was assaulted after being seen laughing and joking with members of Lorients’ hierarchy following Sunday’s defeat.

Sporting director Maurice is also said to have been attacked, despite security being present.
