Cairo International Stadium is gearing up to host an official-status friendly as Egypt faces Nigeria on December 14.

This clash is part of both teams’ build-up to the Africa Cup of Nations, which will take place in Morocco from December 21 to January 18.

The Pharaohs will kick off their continental campaign against Zimbabwe, then take on South Africa, and round off the group stage with a showdown against Angola.

Salah and Marmoush could miss the call-up

The latest reports from the Egyptian camp indicate major doubts about Mohamed Salah and Omar Marmoush joining the squad ahead of the match.

According to a technical source cited by Egyptian media outlet FilGoal, the chances of the duo joining up are “extremely slim,” not exceeding 10%.

This situation is due to the lack of an official response so far from Liverpool and Manchester City regarding the release of the two players, with both clubs set to play fixtures during the same period.

Meanwhile, Sky Sports has reported that FIFA has informed clubs that they may retain their players called up for AFCON 2025 until December 15.
