Is Morocco the strong favorite to win the Arab Cup?

Morocco will kick off the action in the 2025 FIFA Arab Cup on Tuesday, December 2, with an opening clash against Comoros in Group B.

According to many observers, the Moroccan national team ranks among the top favorites to lift the trophy in this regional competition.

This status is fully embraced by Moroccan journalist Youssef Lairji, who expressed great optimism about the Atlas Lions' chances in a statement to Foot Africa.

Obviously, Morocco looks extremely well-equipped to go all the way and claim the ultimate glory in the tournament.Several factors make our national team a strong favorite, especially the presence of several proven players, such as striker Abderrazak Hamdallah, winger Tarik Tissoudali, and attacking midfielder Oussama Tannane.Moreover, the Atlas Lions will enter the tournament brimming with unshakable confidence, buoyed by the recent achievements of Moroccan football—whether it’s the reserve team’s African Nations Championship triumph or the U20 squad’s Junior World Cup victory.Morocco will also count on a major asset in coach Tarik Sektioui, who led the U23s to a bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and captured the most recent CHAN title.

As a reminder, the Atlas Lions are aiming for a second FIFA Arab Cup crown after their triumph in 2012.
