The Cowboys welcomed back one of their top names just days ahead of what is shaping up to be the biggest game of their season. Cornerback Trevon Diggs was limited in Monday's session as he works his way back from his latest knee injury, one that cost him six games. He's still hoping to play Thursday night... and he's still providing no details about the at-home accident that gave him a concussion just before his IR stint was announced. It's been a season of extremes for Diggs; this next stretch of games could determine much about his future.
George Pickens was also limited Monday, even as fellow wide receiver CeeDee Lamb geared up for what he predicts will be a "boxing match" against Detroit's physical defensive backs. Quarterback Dak Prescott agrees with that assessment, saying he and the team are expecting a "four-quarter fight." Much of that battle will occur down in the red zone, providing the resurgent Dallas defense with a monumental challenge. That the Week 14 meeting is expected to be a contest at all would have been unthinkable just a month ago; the Cowboys' dramatic turnaround speaks volumes about the job head coach Brian Schottenheimer has done in what has been a tumultuous- to say the least- season.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementLike the Cowboys, the Lions are also dealing with late-season injuries. Wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown's ankle remains a situation to watch after he injured it last week, and now they've lost starting cornerback Terrion Arnold for the rest of 2025. Safety Kerby Joseph is "close" to coming back from a knee issue, but his status is in doubt. And the much-ballyhooed un-retirement of four-time Pro Bowl center Frank Ragnow turned out to be premature; he failed his physical and won't suit up after all.
Looking ahead at Dallas's future opponents, the Vikings have released longtime playmaker Adam Thielen so he can make one final postseason run with another club, and the Chargers will watch as quarterback Justin Herbert goes under the knife... but may not miss any time. The Giants benched dominant rookie (and frequent doghouse resident) Abdul Carter for the start of Monday night's game, with rumors swirling about the reason why.
In league news, the latest power rankings see a significant climb for the Cowboys, who are suddenly knocking on the door of the Top 10. And Philadelphia fans show their class once again by vandalizing the home of one their embattled coaches.
