It’s finally here. Chicago Bears hate week has arrived, and the stakes couldn’t be higher. This will be the latest the first game in the yearly series has been since 1998, when the series opened up at Lambeau on December 13 with a 26-20 Green Bay Packers win. Why is that relevant? Well, after the Packers’ decisive victory over the Lions on Thanksgiving Day, and the Bears’ subsequent deconstruction of the Eagles’ defense on Black Friday, the two teams are right in the thick of things for the NFC’s #1 seed, and with it, the NFC North crown. Not since December 29, 2013, has this rivalry produced a game with real stakes for both sides.
4th and 8. The last time this rivalry had any juice. The last time Bears fans walked into a game vs. the Packers feeling anything but dread and shame. From 4th and 8 to “I still own you,” to the league’s first ejections, this rivalry is the NFL encapsulated. And after all these years, the league’s greatest rivalry has come out of hibernation for a high-stakes battle.

For the Packers, Ben Johnson’s introductory press conference was enough when the first-year head coach boldly told reporters, “… to be quite frank with you, I kind of enjoyed beating Matt LaFleur twice a year.”
Whether Johnson succeeds on the first try or Matt LaFleur reclaims ownership of the North, it’s sure to create a few new memories that will stand the test of time. As we gear up for another chapter in this storied rivalry, we want to hear from you: What’s your favorite Packers/Bears memory? Sound off in the comments below.
