Chiefs' passing game showed improvement in the Week 13 loss to Cowboys

The Kansas City Chiefs were defeated in their Thanksgiving Day matchup with the Dallas Cowboys, but their passing game showed promise with explosive plays from their top receivers.

"They actually played a pretty good coverage, and they got pressure. Just scrambling and kinda got tripped up a little bit, I was trying to get enough on it to get it to Xavier (Worthy)," said Patrick Mahomes during his postgame press conference, "But he did a good job working back to me because his route was across the field. So, I got enough to get it to him and make a big play and a moment that it was too late, obviously."

Xavier Worthy finished Week 13 with four catches for 61 yards. Mahomes also saw success in his connection with veteran wide receiver Hollywood Brown with his second-half touchdown.

"They were in kind of a cover two type defense versus our empty. So they had a linebacker matchup on a receiver, and he played really good coverage, but Hollywood (Brown) made a really good play," said Mahomes, "I've got to keep giving guys a chance to do that throughout the game, and so that we can score more touchdowns earlier in the game."

During Thursday's game with 3:30 left in the fourth quarter, Mahomes connected with Brown for a 10-yard touchdown. Brown has five receiving touchdowns on the season and now has 33 career touchdowns.

The veteran wide receiver finished the game with two catches for 20 yards and a touchdown reception.
