Tennessee basketball forward Nate Ament was named SEC Co-Freshman of the Week when the conference announced its weekly awards Monday.
Ament has earned the weekly award three times this season. He shared the award with Alabama forward Amari Allen.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementAment, a native of Manassas, Virginia, averaged 16.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.3 steals per game in three contests during the Player Era Championship in Las Vegas, Nevada. He led the Vols to a fourth-place finish in the event, which featured 18 teams.
Ament scored 20 points in two of the three games. He totaled 20 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals in an, 85-60, victory over Rutgers on Nov. 24. Ament recorded nine points and four assists in Tennessee's, 76-73, victory over Houston.
In the Vols' loss to Kansas, Ament finished with 20 points and nine rebounds. He also converted 8-of-8 free throw attempts.
