The Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT), led by the legendary Samuel Eto’o, stunned the African football scene just days before the kick-off of the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, by announcing the dismissal of Belgian coach Marc Brys.

This move, described as a step to "reorganize the house from within," was immediately followed by the appointment of the experienced David Pagou (56) as head coach, alongside Alexandre Belinga and Martin Ntoungou Mpile.

David Pagou wasted no time stamping his authority. On arrival, he made headline-grabbing decisions, most notably dropping goalkeeper André Onana (Trabzonspor) and striker Vincent Aboubakar (Neftçi PFK) from the final Indomitable Lions squad for AFCON.
