The DCU's co-CEOs have already discussed the possibility of one DC comic being adapted as Mr. Terrific's DC Universe Superman sequel story - and it's an interesting pick, especially because the story sees one of the franchise's heroes be banned from the Justice League. The DCU timeline has already introduced a range of underappreciated DC characters, and ensured audiences can appreciate them in new ways.

While we can't know exactly what the future of the DC Universe holds currently - as much of the franchise's next steps seem to depend on how the first few major DCU releases fare - there are a lot of storylines that seem very possible for the universe to adapt in its impending chapters, especially as DCU co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran have been candid about plans for the franchise thus far.
This makes it all the more notable that, in Superman: The Art and Making of the Film, Safran is quoted as saying: “The fact we have access to everything right now… it allows us to take a long view of everything that we’re doing. We know we can take a Mr. Terrific, introduce him in Superman, and go, ‘Maybe we’ll make Strange Adventures.’”
Though this isn't a full confirmation that the DCU will endeavor to adapt Strange Adventures, the success of Superman alongside the popularity of Mr. Terrific - and the positive reception to more obscure DC characters like Peacemaker - certainly suggest there's room for the franchise to adapt Strange Adventures, especially since this avenue has clearly been considered.
Strange Adventures Would Be A Perfect Way To Set Up Mr. Terrific's Wider DCU Arc While Expanding The Universe

Strange Adventures offers a unique opportunity to further delve into Mr. Terrific's story - and balance out his history of being criminally underappreciated on-screen - while also focusing on other matters that help add more detail to the DC Universe on a broader level.
The 2021 run of Strange Adventures sees Mr. Terrific play a central role in the story, as Batman asks the hero to investigate Adam Strange and the discrepancies that have come up regarding Strange's recounting of his life story and involvement in an interplanetary war. This drastically changes both Strange and Mr. Terrific's lives, including seeing Adam Strange be banned from having Justice League membership later in the story - a detail that any DCU rendition is more likely to adapt than Strange's death at the end of the comic.
Ultimately, adapting this run of Strange Adventures looks like it could have several benefits for the DCU, especially since the mystery the narrative hinges around is a genuinely interesting one that keeps the reader on their toes - and since it could tie into the events of the DCU's Man of Tomorrow movie, too, as Strange Adventures features an alien invasion targeted at Earth.
Strange Adventures takes care to flesh out Mr. Terrific throughout its story - emphasizing his immense intellect and capacity as a detective, as well as his moral fiber and determination - while detailing a rebooted version of Adam Strange's story, which notably also features a range of other DC heroes, including Superman, Batman, Martian Manhunter, and major Green Lantern Hal Jordan.
2021's Strange Adventures also tonally matches up with the DCU - in terms of its moments of comedy, in terms of its major plot twists, and in terms of the way the story explores the idea of what it means to be a superhero in DC's universe, and how this concept is far more complex than many classic comics ever made it appear. Taking all of this into account, it does seem adapting this story into a show or movie could be a perfect next stage for the DC Universe, especially when it comes to Mr. Terrific's story.
