President Donald Trump has stood by the slur he used against Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, sparking a Republican lawmaker to call him out for his behavior. On Thanksgiving night, Trump took to his social media platform Truth Social, wherein he spoke about Minnesota's Somalian community. During the lengthy post, he referred to Walz as "The seriously r******* Governor of Minnesota."

Now, People reports that, during an interview aboard Air Force One on November 30, an interviewer asked Trump about his use of the word against Walz. The President stood by his latest insult, particularly accusing Walz of prioritizing Somalian immigrants in Minnesota over other citizens. He also insulted Somalia itself, calling the East African country "not even a country."

Yeah, I think there’s something wrong with him, absolutely, sure. I think there’s something wrong with him.

Anybody that would do what he did, anybody that would allow those people into a state and pay billions of dollars [to] Somalia — we give billions of dollars to Somalia.

It’s not even a country, because it doesn’t function like a country. It’s got a name, but it doesn’t function like a country. Yeah, there’s something wrong with Walz.

Trump's statement comes two days after Republican Senator Mike Bohacek of Indiana made a post on Facebook lambasting the President for his use of the slur against Walz. According to People, Bohacek explained how his second daughter has Down Syndrome, taking personal offense to his use of the word in his Truth Social tirade:

Many of you have asked my position on redistricting. I have been an unapologetic advocate for people with intellectual disabilities since the birth of my second daughter.

Those of you that don’t know me or my family might not know that my daughter has Down Syndrome.

This is not the first time our president has used these insulting and derogatory references and his choices of words have consequences.

Walz didn't take Trump's latest insult sitting down, either. Following the release of the President's Truth Social post, Walz responded on X, asking him to "Release the MRI results." This is in reference to an MRI test Trump took earlier this month. He's since promised to release the "perfect" results, despite not knowing which part of his body was scanned.

Trump's insult aimed at Walz is one of many over the last several days. This includes referring to Bloomberg reporter Catherine Lucey as "piggy" while answering a question about the Epstein files. In addition, he ended up insulting New York Times' White House correspondent Katie Rogers, calling her "ugly, both inside and out," in a Truth Social post.

However, his insult toward Walz has a more personal streak to it as well: Walz's son, Gus Walz, has a nonverbal learning disorder, anxiety disorder, and ADHD. Given Trump's slur is often used against those with disabilities, it makes his attack on Walz stretch beyond the personal between the two of them, and into his family.

Luckily, the response from Bohacek emphasizes that not every Republican stands with Trump, especially when he uses slurs that are aimed at specific groups of people. But the incident does emphasize how the President is becoming more brazen with his attacks against other politicians and the press, making it impossible to predict what he's going to say next.
