Phillies Predicted to Lose Gold Glover to Dodgers in Free Agency

The Philadelphia Phillies need help in the outfield, and traded for Harrison Bader at the trade deadline to try and address the need. However, Bader was a short-term solution.

After declining his mutual option, Bader is a free agent. A reunion with the Phillies is not out of the question, but plenty of teams could use a player like Bader. He plays solid defense and just had a career year at the plate. NorthJersey.com's Andrew Tredinnick predicted he would leave the Phillies to sign with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

"There is a need in one of the outfield positions in Los Angeles, and maybe a shift to left could help Bader's longevity," wrote Tredinnick.

The Dodgers do not have many flaws. However, the final outfield spot is something the team needs to address. Teoscar Hernández has a claim to one of the spots and Andy Pages, despite a poor finish to the season, had a great sophomore season. Those two will be starters going into next season.

It would be unfair to count the Dodgers out of the running for Kyle Tucker due to their already high payroll, since they continued to spend last offseason. However, Bader is a more budget-friendly option. He is a Gold Glove Award winner and slashed .277/.347/.449 last season.

He hit a career-high 17 home runs and had a career-best .796 OPS. He was a key player for the Phillies, slashing .305/.361/.463 in 50 games. He, Pages and Hernández could be a great trio in the outfield for the Dodgers as they chase a three-peat.
