The Alabama Crimson Tide are gearing up for a massive showdown against the Georgia Bulldogs in the SEC championship game on Saturday. With the program trying to punch a ticket into the upcoming College Football Playoff, there are other rumblings that have grown much louder in recent weeks.

Kalen DeBoer, the head coach at Alabama, has been linked in rumors to the open Penn State coaching job.

After taking over for the legendary Nick Saban last season, DeBoer has done a decent job for the Crimson Tide. He hasn't had the kind of success that fans had become used to with Saban leading the way.

In his first season, DeBoer led the team to a 9-4 record. That wasn't close to what fans were hoping to see from him. This season, Alabama has gone 10-2 so far, a much better result for the program.

However, there has been a lot of pressure on DeBoer to live up to the Saban expectation. He has been turned on quickly by the fans when something has gone wrong. Could that have hurt his feeling about the program?

Amid all of the rumors with his name connected, a new report has come out that is deeply concerning for the Crimson Tide.

Former NFL linebacker and current analyst Bobby Carpenter revealed that he doesn't think DeBoer necessarily likes being the head coach at Alabama. He thinks that DeBoer is a legitimate dark horse to land with the Nittany Lions.

“I don’t know how much Kalen DeBoer actually likes being the head coach at Alabama," Carpenter said.

Granted, everything is all speculation at this point in time. DeBoer has not come out and said that he's unhappy with the Crimson Tide. He has remained totally focused on leading Alabama back to a championship run this season.

A lot of the rumors could be put to rest if the Crimson Tide win the SEC championship this weekend. Even further, he could cement himself as a long-term option for Alabama if he can lead a national championship run.

There is a lot of noise across the world of college football. DeBoer has been involved in a lot of that noise. It's possible that he could consider altering his course for the future.

All of that being said, it will be interesting to see what the rest of this season has in store for the Crimson Tide. Penn State has been rumored to have high interest in DeBoer, but no concrete direction for him has been made clear.
