A cinematic obsessive with the filmic palate of a starving raccoon, Rob London will watch pretty much anything once. With a mind like a steel trap, he's an endless fount of movie and TV trivia, borne from a misspent youth of watching monster movies on TV, perusing the sun-faded goods at the local video rental shop, and staining his fingers with ink from the Video Movie Guide. Areas of interest include science fiction, film noir, horror flicks, '70s disaster pictures, Bond movies, '90s action, giant robots, dinosaurs, super heroes, and the exuberantly schlocky output of Cannon Films. He also enjoys both Star Trek and Star Wars when they're good, and maybe even more when they're bad. As a Canadian, he also has a vested interest in Canadian movies and TV shows, especially the cheesier ones dubbed "Canuxploitation."
An expert on Marvel Comics, he has also written for the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe, and is a member of the Marvel Research Team. He can frequently be found pontificating on comic-book continuity or bemoaning the misfortunes of the Toronto Maple Leafs on his Twitter account.

Lucy Liu is getting some of the best reviews of her career in the new drama Rosemead. Today, Collider is thrilled to bring you an exclusive sneak peek of the film and Liu's powerful performance, which will open in select theaters next week. Rosemead will premiere in theaters in New York on December 5 and in Los Angeles on December 12. In our exclusive sneak peek, Chinese immigrant Irene (Liu) is sharing a meal with her son, Joe (newcomer Lawrence Shou), when things take a disturbing turn. He's insistent that he heard her calling for him from the school hallway, even though she knows she was at work at the time. She tries to convince him that what he heard wasn't real, but he's not having it; he angrily tosses his chopsticks away and storms off.
Irene is left alone to wonder what's happening to her son. The resulting look on Liu's face marks this role as a departure from her iconic action roles in Charlie's Angels and Kill Bill, not to mention her TV roles as confident, independent operators on shows like Ally McBeal and Elementary. How far will Irene have to go? You'll have to find out when Vertical opens Rosemead in limited release this week.
What Is 'Rosemead' About?
Liu stars as Irene, a single mother whose health is rapidly deteriorating. However, she's unable to focus on herself, as her son, Joe, is suddenly descending into a nightmare world of delusions and hallucinations. With the end of her own life rapidly approaching, Irene must prepare for the life her son will lead without her...and what dangers he might pose to others. Stymied by her insular Chinese-American community, Irene may have to resort to unthinkably desperate measures. In addition to Liu and Shou, the film also stars Orion Lee (First Cow), Jennifer Lim (Hell on Wheels), Madison Hu (A Man on the Inside), and James Chen (FBI).
Rosemead is the debut directorial feature for cinematographer Eric Lin (The Sound of Silence, Hearts Beat Loud). The script was written by Marilyn Fu, a writer on the upcoming Simu Liu-Melissa Barrera series The Copenhagen Test; it is loosely based on events that occurred in Rosemead, California, in 2015. In addition to starring in the film, Liu is also an executive producer, shepherding it through seven years of development before it finally premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival earlier this year to rapturous reviews.
Rosemead will premiere in theaters in New York on December 5 and in Los Angeles on December 12. Stay tuned to Collider for future updates.
