With new seasons underway for both Syracuse Orange basketball program, fans are now getting a better sense of where each team sits now that a key metric is finally out.
The first NET rankings for 2025-26 were released Monday and the men’s team is currently at No. 90 overall and 14th in the ACC, while the women’s team’s strong start has it at No. 41, good for seventh-best in the conference.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementStarting on the men’s side, Syracuse’s seven games so far have either been against Q1 or Q4 opponents. The Orange are 4-0 in its Q4 games, but notably 0-3 in its first three Q1 games, all of which came during the 2025 Players Era Festival in Las Vegas. Syracuse lost to Houston (No. 18) in overtime, Kansas (No. 17) by 11 and Iowa State (No. 7) by 31.
Syracuse’s next Q1 will come on Tuesday at home versus Tennessee, which national analysts like Jon Rothstein labeling it as a critical game for the Orange’s chances of making the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2020-21.

Of Syracuse’s 18 conferences games, seven are currently projected to be Q1. Six of the seven will be on the road, and that includes a stretch where Syracuse will once again play four Q1 opponents in a row — Duke, North Carolina, Wake Forest and Louisville — toward the end of the regular season.
The rest of the ACC slate includes four Q2 games, seven Q3 games and zero Q4 games.
As for the women’s team, the Orange are a combined 6-0 agains Q3 and Q4 opponents, including 2-0 against the former. It has so far only played one Q1 opponent, which was a neutral-site loss to Michigan (No. 5).

Just like the men, seven of the women’s team’s 18 games will be against Q1 opponents, with five of those being on the road. Sixteen of its 18 games against the conference will be Q1, Q2 or Q3.
Both the men’s and women’s teams are both projected to miss the NCAA Tournament, according to the latest bracketology updates released by ESPN.
