Transformers fans are in for a treat because four live-action Transformers movies are now available to stream for free. As part of its December lineup, the free, ad-supported streaming platform Pluto TV has added the first four Michael Bay-directed Transformers movies to its library. These include 2007's Transformers, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, and Transformers: Age of Extinction. This move comes at the perfect time, as all four films are set to leave Netflix on December 25 due to license agreements expiring.

At the time of release, the films were not popular with critics, and each of them holds a rotten critic score on Rotten Tomatoes. That did not matter much because the movies delivered big crowd-pleasing action, and general audiences loved every bit of the huge Autobot vs. Decepticon battles. All four movies became major box-office hits, and Dark of the Moon and Age of Extinction even crossed the one-billion-dollar mark. That run was the peak point of the franchise, and every entry after that saw lower numbers.

The first movie introduced the iconic duo of Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox, who team up with Bumblebee, Optimus Prime (Peter Cullen), and the rest of the Autobots to stop the Decepticons. Each movie after that tried to up the ante. Revenge of the Fallen came in 2009 and focused on an older and more dangerous Decepticon threat known as the Fallen (Tony Todd). Dark of the Moon sent the Autobots into space and ended with a massive battle on the Moon’s surface. And Age of Extinction took the series into a whole new direction by swapping out the old human cast for a new team led by Mark Wahlberg.

After So Many Franchise Misses, Michael Bay May Be Returning To Direct Another Live-Action Transformers Movie

After Age of Extinction, Bay returned for another sequel with Transformers: The Last Knight. The movie tried to tie the Transformers story to King Arthur (Liam Garrigan), but it was poorly received by fans and critics alike, and that reaction pushed Bay to step away because he felt worn out by the franchise. The series then experimented with another sequel directed by Steven Caple Jr., a Bumblebee prequel, and even an animated Transformers One movie. Still, none of them came close to the unique energy of the Bay movies.

However, earlier this year, reports confirmed that Bay is in talks to direct a brand-new live-action Transformers movie. The surprising part is that Bay was the one who asked to return instead of the studio pulling him in. So, with a whole new Bay-directed Transformers film possibly on the way, this is the perfect time to rewatch the earlier entries since they are completely free to stream right now.

The first four Transformers movies are free to stream on Pluto TV. The rest of the franchise, along with these four films, is also available to stream on Paramount+. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
