Chris Eubank Jr has announced he is taking an indefinite break from boxing after sharing footage of himself unconscious in hospital.

The 36-year-old was beaten by Conor Benn via unanimous decision in their rematch at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on November 15.

Eubank Jr, who announced before the fight that he is expecting twin boys, clearly lacked energy in his second fight with Benn, landing just 68 punches on his opponent, while judge Howard Foster awarded him just one round.

Speaking after the fight, Eubank Jr revealed he had ‘been through hell and back to make it here’ and insisted he needed to ‘heal’ before contemplating his next fight.

However, Eubank Jr has now indicated that a return to the ring will not be imminent after sharing footage of himself in hospital after his defeat to Benn.

In the video, Eubank Jr was seen laying motionless on a treatment table while a doctor was preparing to put a breathing tube in his mouth.

In his caption with the video, Eubank Jr wrote: ‘I’ve been dealing with a lot of health issues over the last year and yeah it all finally caught up to me last month.

‘I will not box again until I’m back to 100 per cent and I don’t know when that will be.

‘But one things for certain… for the fans that have supported me through thick and thin, I will do everything in my power to make sure that one day, the old me makes a big comeback.’

Speaking last week, Eubank Jr’s promoter, Ben Shalom, admitted the 36-year-old was ‘not in the state he should have been’ to fight Benn.

‘I think anyone with any sort of brain can see that wasn’t Eubank Jr, he was a shell of himself,’ Shalom told talkSPORT.

‘I think he threw 30 per cent of the punches that he threw in the first fight.

‘He was finished, he was done, he didn’t even have the energy to fight back.

‘I don’t want to make excuses because at the end of the day, a lot of fans paid a lot of money to go and see that fight and what an event it was.
