Predator: Badlands is gearing up for its fifth weekend in theaters, and before the film has even arrived on VOD, it has just passed as one of the best sci-fi movies of the last 15 years. At the time of writing, Predator: Badlands sits at $85 million at the domestic box office and $89.3 million internationally, for a global cumulative haul of $174.4 million. This $85 million in America is enough to catapult the newest Predator movie past the $77.1 million total of Everything Everywhere All at Once, the 2022 sci-fi masterpiece that won seven Oscars at the 2023 Academy Awards.

Predator: Badlands reportedly cost just over $100 million to make, and the film is approaching its break-even point of $200 million, but is slowing down more by the day. It began its box office run at the top with a $40 million domestic debut, but it fell to third in its second and third weekends in theaters with the newer arrivals of Now You See Me: Now You Don’t and The Running Man. Predator: Badlands has now been in theaters for more than a month, and after ditching over 1,000 theaters last weekend, things are expected to slow down soon.

Starring in the lead role in Predator: Badlands is Elle Fanning, and she co-stars with Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi, who plays the Predator, Dek. The film was written and directed by Dan Trachtenberg, with Patrick Aison also contributing to the script, and the Thomas brothers earning a writing credit for their work on the original Predator film. The sci-fi film currently sits at strong scores of 86% from critics and 95% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes — Certified Fresh and Verified Hot.

When Is the New Predator Movie Coming to Streaming?

20th Century Studios has yet to announce when Predator: Badlands will begin streaming, but it’s a safe bet that it will eventually join other recent Predator hits like Prey and Killer of Killers on Hulu. There have even been whispers of another Alien vs. Predator movie, and with both franchises succeeding independently right now, the timing couldn't be better. The Alien franchise found success last year with the blockbuster Romulus, and also with the 2025 TV show, Alien: Earth. The opportunity is ripe for a crossover, and Trachtenberg and Fede Alvarez may be just the duo to give fans what they want.

Stay tuned to Collider for more box office updates and coverage of Predator: Badlands.
