How Acquired

The Braves signed Rolddy Munoz in the same 2017-18 international free agent class as his twin brother Roddery, giving him a $20k signing bonus – or $10k less than his brother. What Were Expectations?

After spending the 2024 year mostly in Double-A, after initially being in High-A, the expectation for Munoz this year was to see him pitch in Triple-A and maybe get a chance to help the big league club in the bullpen at some point in the season.2025 Results

The 2025 season was a bit of a rollercoaster for Munoz. He opened the year back in Double-A, but got promoted to Triple-A in late-May. He got sent back down to Columbus in late-July for a month, before heading back to Gwinnett. After just two appearances with Gwinnett the second time, he earned a big league call up that lasted for three games in September, before finishing up in Gwinnett.

He dominated in Columbus, pitching to a 2.11 ERA and 1.33 WHIP over 38.1 innings in 25 outings. He picked up 34 strikeouts to 23 walks there. In Gwinnett he had a 4.15 ERA and 1.25 WHIP over 21.2 innings in 16 games, striking out 25 to his 10 walks. Combined in the minors he had a 2.85 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, and 59 strikeouts to 33 walks in 60 innings, picking up six saves.

In Atlanta he pitched 3.2 innings over three appearances, pitching to a 12.27 ERA- however those numbers are a little misleading. He pitched two scoreless innings against the Cubs in his big league debut, and a third of an inning without giving up and runs against the Mariners in his second appearance – though he did walk a pair of batters. It was his third outing against the Mariners the very next day where he gave up five runs in an inning and a third which made his big league numbers look a little on the ugly side in a short sample size.

What Went Right

Munoz was excellent in Columbus, solid in Gwinnett, and had some positive moments in Atlanta. He did a solid job of getting outs from the bullpen, even if some of it came after getting himself into some trouble first.

What Went Wrong?

Command was not a strength for Munoz this year. He walked 5.0 hitters per nine innings in the minors, followed by five in three and two thirds innings with the Braves. He will definitely need to clean that up a little bit to succeed at the big league level.2026 Outlook

Munoz will likely open the 2026 season in Gwinnett and be an extra piece who goes up and down with the Braves all season if he can make strides with the command. So far in the Dominican Winter League he has pitched to a 0.93 ERA, 0.93 WHIP, and 14 strikeouts to just two walks in 9.2 innings of work. If that is a sign of growth with his command, he could be a valuable piece for the Braves next year.
