The New England Patriots couldn't ask much more from second-year quarterback Drake Maye. The 23-year-old signal caller has paced the team to an 11-2 record after their 33-15 win on Monday Night Football against the New York Giants. In the game, Maye threw for 282 yards and two touchdowns on 24-for-31 passing.

On Tuesday, Pat McAfee praised the play of Drake Maye on his podcast, where he discussed how the quarterback has proven many of his doubters wrong.

[The Patriots] got their guy in Drake Maye," McAfee said. "Six-foot-four, 225 pounds, and he can run. He can move."

"Fast forwarding, just two years in, and all the concerns about him were his footwork, remember? His footwork, he's 'too athletic', his feet get too far away, his arm's doing too much. But now? He's a picture-perfect, form quarterback. Everything's on the money, everything's on time, and everything is seemingly coming so damn easy for this guy in his second year."

Drake Maye's numbers are MVP worthy

Drake Maye might have entered the 2025 season to a myriad of questions, but now he has the NFL asking only one: Is Drake Maye the league's Most Valuable Player in 2025?

The Pats passer has thrown for 3.419 yards, 23 touchdowns, and just six interceptions on the year, to go along with 11.9 QBR. He's led the team to ten straight victories and now has the franchise eyeing a return to the Super Bowl. After the lull in the team's success under the regime of Bill Belichick and Tom Brady, he represents a new generation of football in Foxborough.

While Rams QB Matthew Stafford is also in the running, Maye could put a stamp of approval on his name if he can defeat the Buffalo Bills (currently 8-4) and knock them flat in the AFC East. That game will take place at Gillette Stadium on Dec 14, as the Pats are in the midst of their bye week.
