Syracuse (5-3) defeated No. 13 Tennessee (7-2), 62-60, Tuesday in the ACC/SEC Challenge at JMA Wireless Dome in Syracuse, New York.

Tennessee suffered its second consecutive loss after finishing in fourth place in the Players Era Championship. The Vols lost to Kansas in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Orange led Tennessee, 32-30, at halftime.

Jaylen Carey, a Vanderbilt transfer, scored a career-high 22 points for Tennessee. He led all scorers and totaled nine rebounds and one steal. Carey converted 10-of-16 field goal attempts and 2-of-4 free throw attempts.

Nate Ament recorded 11 points, six rebounds, two assists and one steal for the Vols, who trailed, 50-41, with 11 minutes, 50 seconds remaining in the game. Ja'Kobi Gillespie finished with 10 points, seven assists, two rebounds, two steals and one block.

Nate Kingz recorded 19 points and seven rebounds for Syracuse. The Orange ended a four-game losing steak in the all-time series against Tennessee.
